When you are moving to a completely new city, make sure you find a new doctor. This should be your highest priority since we all know how doctor appointments work – it takes weeks to get through the doctor’s door. Your first tasks is to researching for local hospitals and doctors in the area. Once you found a place where it meets your criteria, call and schedule an appointment. Additionally don’t forget to mention to the new doctor your situation. Furthermore make sure that your current doctor will send your medical records to the new one.

Reduce the stress

We all know how stressful moving can be, however you need to understand that your calmness  should be your utmost importance. Taking care of yourself and your baby takes priority over the relocation. Here are some tips, helping  you keep stress away while moving:

  • Stay active! Make time for daily walks, yoga or any type of activities you like. This will consequently help you to lower your cortisol levels and get your mind off.
  • Read a book, watch a movie, listen to your favorite band.
  • Socialize with friends – talking with good friends is one of the best ways to get your mind off of the stressful move.
  • Treat yourself – Don’t forget to treat yourself! You deserve a treat every now and then!
  • Deep breathing – Take time to breathe calmly and deeply! Not only will proper breathing reduce overall stress, but it will also help you to stay well-rested.
  • Sleep – At least 8 hours of sleep every night.

While moving, be cautious when using cleaning supplies, as most of them are harmful chemicals. Additionally make sure to wear gloves when cleaning dishes, and in general all the rest of your home. It is always a good idea to investing in cleaning supplies that are made with all-natural ingredients – not with questionable chemicals.

Wait on purchasing baby supplies

Unless your baby is set to arrive shortly after moving, it is best to wait until the move is finalized to purchase baby supplies and furniture. First of all it will save you money. Less stuff always equals more money in your pocket. Secondly, waiting to purchase baby supplies means you’ll spend less time packing. Once you move to your new home, you’ll be able to better understand of what you really need for the baby.
